Being an amateur musician, I've found myself in a variety of lighting situations: anything from the near-total darkness broken only by the back light of a flood lamp at a backyard gig, to the blinding, all-encompassing sunlight of a function at a middle school on a Saturday at 9 AM, to the dynamic, colorful palette of a professional lighting system on an actual stage every once in a while. This picture is an example of the latter, at White Oak Music and Arts in Van Nuys. I remember this place especially because of how incredibly hot it could get in there, even
without the lights. Here, you can see the front light gloriously painting my singer, drummer and guitarist, and the back light pointed at the pit, where the audience was.
Neat! Yep, I have lit lots and lots of my friends' bands! All kinds of weird venues and types of shows with all types of lights! I love the gritty and fun vibe of being able to make whatever you have work and look good with the music! nice!
